Sacred Fruits - Watercolor, Acrylic, Markers, Ink,2024

Our foods and our bodies are sacred. Each of us- all living beings have a DNA or a story that goes back hundreds of years.  As we live and breathe, it is always our destination to engage with foods, land, animals and other humans- some way, somehow.  This piece is about honoring our biological histories to deepen and broaden the story of our ancestral food ways.  As the woman's body is attacked, so is our food system.  As queer and trans bodies are under attack, we are all under attack.  Cultivating the time to courageously reflect on this while forming new relationships with our cultural food ways is not only a powerful pathway, but a necessary clearing for true healing to settle in. Much of my art brings attention to the female body, challenging notions encouraging fat phobia and perfectionism.  This piece is an extension of that work.
